47 Spam comments
Will it ever end? (I do literally have 47 spam comments in my “discarded” folder) It would seem that Spammers love the new Xanga more than the old one.)
I have now posted my third blog post at WordPress that I have not imported back over to my “paid for” Xanga site. I guess that means I have lost complete faith in Xanga’s future and where XangaTeam has taken us at present (I would describe it thus: Adrift on a vast sea of emptiness.) and to which they haven’t made response to since Sept. 3rd when they cut us loose gave us this empty boat to explore.
I see posts by only those who are my “Friends” before the changeover, but I haven’t seen a single “Front page” from which to discover anything new.
Meanwhile, over at WordPress, I’m writing posts about Ojo Taylor (former lead singer for the Christian band “Undercover” and now avid atheist) and the sad state of “christian” music today, about what happened on the cross (I’ve gotten some rebuke on that one for how I’ve chosen one particular word… I’m presently trying to figure out how it should be phrased), and also a reposting of one of the first pieces of non-fiction I ever wrote, way back in college in 1997.
Three posts that never made it to Xanga….. and only 5 months ago I was one of the PAID life-time members of Xanga who was encouraging everyone to not abandon ship. I even entitled one of my blog posts “Going down with the Titanic” and stated that I wasn’t abandoning ship. (If this was the OLD Xanga, I would have linked you to that post… But I haven’t mastered how to do so in the new.)
Folks…. the Titanic has sunk.
If I could retract my pledge of support… at this point, I probably would. There just honestly doesn’t seem to be any life here any more outside of SaintVI, quest4God and Aloysius Son. (Oh and lest I forget, SonnetJoy.) Xanga 1.0 is dead, and I cannot —- in all honesty —- praise what has arisen from it’s ashes. Where once was a grand community there has come….. silence. And moreso importantly, where once there was a XangaTeam, responsive to our questions…. again, there is only silence.
Kinda makes you wonder if they are all still out there. If, indeed, anyone is out there.

The titanic was at least robustly built, albeit lacking a couple hundred lifeboats, and met with an unforeseen foe. Xanga is more like that Italian cruise ship a while ago, run onto the rocks by the playboy captain, who left in a hurry, and left the passengers to fend for themselves. Or drown.
like you, I never expected to lose my years-long affection with this place. They had to work hard, do all the wrong things ‘just so’, in order to kill it.
And not speaking a word to one’s few but somehow still loyal ‘taxpayers’ is the real kiss of death, worse than the dysfunctionality of the present site.
Yes, I am here; but only newly so. For quite some time I had only a blank site on which to post and no one to read it. I too was one to call for patience and then I lost mine. Now, I am beginning to see signs of life, but I would like to see more of the old faces – and maybe some new ones.
it does indeed feel strange on here. I wish the front page was updated with news on what was in store. that said, I updated my blog a few minutes ago.
It’s the whole lack of community thing that has made Xanga 2.0 feel empty and desolate Erin. It’s so sad because what Xanga 1.0 represented was something unique and amazing. You discovered new people over time — you could follow comments and find them, you could follow the front page and find them, you could randomly look something up and find them… there were so many avenues to finding people and making new friends. And yet here… wow, yeah, umm right. I daresay that if this isn’t fixed, come July of next year they won’t be able to raise $10 for a kickstart drive to continue into the future.
and ooooh! 47! it’s like in the movies!
