Poem - The Master's Call
12-7-2012 11:00 pm (Taiwan time)
Dare I say
that I've done good
before it tis my time?
Only God
may judge my works,
my own opinion's biased.Dare I say
that I've done well
and believe my work complete?
I am but
a lowly servant
who must, my Master, heed.Dare I take pride
on all I've done
and pause a moment to reflect?
My own praise
is meaningless
and serves only to distract!!!Dare I think
that I might rest
& think my strivings ceased,
just because
I wish it so
& want a life of ease?May I not
be found relaxed
on the day my Master speaks....
There are actually a few Scripture verses woven into this poem, but one in particular is the umbrella for which all of it shelters it's thought.
Mark 13:33-37 gives us warning of being found lax when our Master returns.... and in today's society it is quite easy to want to rest, relax, take it easy .... to retire to a simpler life. It's why we crave entertainment, why we desire "time off", why we all want a vacation. Because we don't see this as a time of war, we see this as a time of peace. The enemy is never more ready to pounce upon us than when he can get us to drop our guard.
No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Be on guard! Be alert! You do not know when that time will come. It’s like a man going away: He leaves his house and puts his servants in charge, each with his assigned task, and tells the one at the door to keep watch.
“Therefore keep watch because you do not know when the owner of the house will come back—whether in the evening, or at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or at dawn. If he comes suddenly, do not let him find you sleeping. What I say to you, I say to everyone: ‘Watch!’” (Mark 13:33-37)
